An often scrappy affair that was overshadowed before the game by talk of the clubs future saw Forest extend their unbeaten run at home to 26 matches.
Coventry featured a line up with 3 ex players, 2 of whom left the club under a cloud, Clingan leaving citing ambition, and King, well I think everyone knows Kings history since he left the club.
The game started scrappily, but a good chance for Tyson getting clear, before blazing over the bar. But it was an indicator that Tyson would trouble the Coventry defence. Forest for the most part had the better of the first half, up until Coventry got themselves a dangerous free kick, that ultimately came to nothing, but seemed to act as a catalyst for the sky blues to get a foot in the game. Which came to fruition when they scored form a free kick that was avoidable on two counts. For one, the ball went out for a throw which could have been avoided if Morgan had not dallied. Then moments later when the free kick was given, the ball was ultimately headed in by Chambers into his own goal. It felt like a sucker punch as Coventry certainly did not deserve the lead at this stage.
Shortly after however Forest were level. A long ball up front was chased by Tyson, Tyson cut back, and the ball eventually came to Majewski who lashed in a shot from outside the area past Westwood, a keeper who despite all the hype looked poor. It was a goal Forest had deserved but at times hadn't looked like getting.
The second half saw a lot more scrappy play. Forest took the lead when Cohen whipped across an in swinging free kick that sailed past everyone into the net, Earnshaw attempting to claim it for a moment, but there wa no doubt it was a Cohen goal. The inswinging free kick to the back post is always a valuable weapon, they often do creep in untouched at the back post, and Cohen has scored like this on more than one occasion.
The last 10-15 minutes would see Coventry repeatedly beating on Forests door. Pumping the ball into the box with blocking challenges being thrown in. Nervy moments, that we came through to secure a win. Had we been behind for longer the fans may have turned. Despite all the divisive issues behind the scenes at board and management level they never seemed to have filtered to the terraces. The fans didn't barrack either manager or chairman, and got behind the team.
All in all a deserved but nervy win for the Reds
